This is a 12-year-old rum from Richard Seale, the genius behind the Exceptional Cask Selections from Foursquare. Seale can trace his rum distilling heritage all the way back to 1650, and this line of small releases is his best chance to show off the knowledge his family has gathered over the centuries. This expression is made with more pot still rum than other rums in the same line, giving it a satisfying and rich body. It was aged in ex-bourbon barrels, which give it a nice vanilla scent on the nose. The palate is complex with tropical notes of coconut and tobaccos and the finish is long and bold with mild leather and peppery spice. A beautiful expression that has earned a cult following.
